Overview (basics)

Band review (4:47) - Questions and answers
Headline - 4:47 has arrived

Kicker - 4:47, the new band thats got everyone up, out of their seats and raving!

Article
The new band of this month has arrived! theyve only been rocking for 4 months and their first single has hit the streets. Some rock stars say it takes time to master the music but these guys have proved them wrong.
Although 4:47 is a band from Lowestoft, a small town near Norwich they sure know how to rock! we asked them some simple and personal questions to see if there really is a difference between a small town rock band and a band from London!

"What did you want to be when you grew up?"

"I wanted to be a cop"

"Why?"

"I wanted too shoot people, I thought that was the only thing cops did"

"Were you a rebel in school, or were you a teachers pet?"

"I cant say i was a teachers pet but I wasnt bad". Steve (the guitarist of 4:47) walked across and said "He was a rebel! I remember when he brought in a BB gun to school and kept shooting the teacher in the face with it!"

It was obvious that Steven was wrecked so we thought it would be awesome to ask him a couple questions.

"Whats your favourite band?"

Foo fighters eer no, System of a Down, actually no it has to be Serj tankien, I lie it was......
he kept correcting himself until he wandered off in a trance.

We had difficulty interviewing Steven because he was so out of his head, he couldnt understand what we were saying, and we couldnt understand what we were saying.

We then asked Ryan (The bass guitar player of 4:47)

"Whats your favourite movie?"

"It has to be Austin Powers!"

"Whys that?"

"Cos I love it when Gold Member offers Austin all the food and drugs that are mixed together!"

Article ending
This band is performing at alot of local gigs in Lowestoft and all of East Anglia, if you see their name at a gig, we would expect you to go, their music is great, they improvise on stage and their performances are awesome! Remember 4:47 and look for those numbers wherever you go!

Initial Music Magazine Ideas

Demographic
The demographic I have chosen to aim my magazine at is teenagers between the age of 14 and 20, I chose this age range because people at this age have alot of free time on their hands, their active, and for most people nowadays, they like to listen to alot of music. Im trying to aim my magazine at people who are into rock music, so this will fit in well with my age range, by selecting this type of music I can advertise gigs which will attract my demographic to my magazine. Basically the best sounding and largest type of music which is played live today is rock music. My magazine will also include reviews of gigs in the UK.

Here are 10 Bands/Artists who will be in my magazine, this will show a brief outline of what type of rock my magazine will be based on.
  • Foo Fighters
  • Tenacious D
  • System of a Down
  • Muse
  • Serj Tankien
  • The killers
  • Red Hot Chilli Peppers
  • Iron Maiden
  • Lost Prophets
  • Young Guns
Most of these bands play Alternative rock (Rock which is inbetween the techno-style we have in the charts today and heavy metal rock) I think that this type of rock still has alot of fans and it can also pull in fans from other types of music because of the mix of metal and techno-style music.

I have used the website UK Tribes to identify the partcular audiences who will read my magazine:
"gamers" http://uktribes.com/?p=tribe&id=3
"emos"    http://uktribes.com/?p=tribe&id=9
"skaters" http://uktribes.com/?p=tribe&id=11

The Title and the Catchphrase
Im still thinking of a title but i have had one idea called "The Virge" I thought of this title because it links to the type of music my magazine is based on. Rock music has a stereotype of being crazy and some people say that the time you feel most alive is just before you die, some poeple also say you feel that way when your in a mosh pit. My title shows that your on the edge or virge of your life when your at a gig.
The catchphrase for my magazine is going to be "Cant remember what happened last night? Allow us to remind you!" I made this catchphrase because it shows that my demographic will party and drink alot, this is almost expected nowadays. A night out in the modern world usually ends with a sore head and a case of amnesia. This catchphrase relates to the demographic of my magazine.

Freebies and Special Offers
I will be having alot of freebies in my magazine, this is because alot of people get attracted by the word "free". This word is very rarely mentioned in the modern world, however my magazine will be unique thanks to this problem. People will love my magazine because of the freebies my magazine will offer them, these freebies will include:
  • CD's
  • Records
  • Posters
  • Free downloads
Special offers dont work as well as freebies when encouraging people to buy your magazine, however they can still be very usefull. There are still plenty of people who havent given up playing the lotto game, if the prize is an expencive gadget or maybe tickets to a big gig then people will enter the competitions and people will be attracted to buy the magazine.

Price
The price i have chosen for my magazine is £2.00, i have chosen this price because this is cheaper than most magazines sold today, this will inflate the amount of people attracted to my magazine simply because its cheaper. Another reason i chose this amount is because if the amount is only in pounds (not £2.20 or £2.40) people wont have to go searching throuhg their pockets for loose change, its just common sense.
